Using Standardized Patient Simulation in Undergraduate Nursing Education: A Scoping Review
Federal and statutory requirements call upon professional organizations, health authorities, and individual caregivers to benefit from nurse participation in Continuing Care Education (CNE). These benefits are: performance; improved quality of care; personal benefits such as self-satisfaction; and social benefits such as shorter patient hospital stays. However, the literature does not indicate whether CNE works as expected. The cost of CNE is also not clear. In this study, 244 registered nurses assessed benefits and identified costs of CKD in a mail-mail survey. The personal interests generated by individual caregivers were highest, and economic interests were highest. All cost data was biased in the positive direction (a lot of low cost). The opportunity fee (the time lost from work) was higher than the cost of direct (tuition) or indirect (travel, book/equipment, childcare, meal). The employer has been known to pay more for her CKD than individual caregivers. No significant relevance has been confirmed between CKD costs and benefits.
